JL: You’ve been meditating for about six months now, and you’re quite the regular. What keeps you coming back to the MeditationWorks mobile unit very week?
JD: It came at a good time where I had fallen into a pattern and needed a change in my life. About a year ago I went through some leadership training in a fellowship. I started seeing a chiropractor and began working out as well. So it’s the mind and the body, right? And the meditation came at the perfect time.
I love our time together! Not only do I get the downtime in the trailer, but also your mindful tips, man I love them to death! I have them on my desk. I bring them home and share them with my wife. They change my day. It’s not just the ten minutes of meditation; it’s what you teach us. Like when I’m having a rough night and I can’t sleep… I lay there and can hear Justin speaking. I take my breaths, do a couple body scans, and I fall asleep in five minutes now!
JL: You mentioned that our “Mindful Eating” tip really worked.
JD: The mindful eating tip is so useful. At lunch and at dinner now I’ve just slowed down, actually taking the time to appreciate each bite. Before I used to just gobble a meal, you know? Now I taste what I’m eating and drinking, like savoring each sip of wine. What a difference that has made.
JL: Just think of all the thousands of meals you will actually experience and enjoy now. That alone will change the course of your life. I believe this and you are living it. You are proof.
JD: Prior to this, if you would have said the word “meditation” I would have thought it was something I had to do every single day. And that it was all about the meditation as you’re sitting there… Now I know the meditation IS great, but it’s not just that 10 minutes sitting down in the trailer that I love so much. It’s everything else that comes along with it that reminds me to be more mindful. It’s the changes in what I’m doing that really make my life more enjoyable.
JL: Tell me a little more about how MeditationWorks has impacted your everyday life.
JD: I tell my wife all about my meditation all the time and it does carry over to how I am with my family. It just makes me more mindful about what I’m saying and how I spend my time, like getting rid of some things that I’m wasting time on so I have more time to spend on what really matters. That’s a tip you gave us that has come into play a lot! The tip cards are really so great. They are reminders for the days I’m not in the trailer and they really work! We’ve always talked about these things, you know, being more mindful and all, and now with the consistent meditation practice and the weekly tips, it’s finally translated to where it happens every day.
When it comes to meditation, consistency is the secret to success. Jim is living proof that practicing meditation in our mobile unit translates to mindfulness outside the mobile unit. We applaud Jim for his commitment to the brief, effective practice of meditation and the benefits he, his family, and friends will experience!
Until we meet again…
