One of our meditators is an account executive, and a working mom who just last weekend was trying to enjoy a much-needed family vacation. From the backseat of the car, the continuous stream of chatter from her 14 year-old son was wearing on her, to the point where she missed their exit.
The resulting unexpected five-mile detour turned irritation into anger. However, just as quickly as the impulse to silence her son arose to say, “Would you please just SHUT UP?” It was subdued by a different thought. She snapped her mouth closed and took a deep breath instead.
“I realized that he’s just an excited kid, enjoying my attention,” she admitted. “I took one of my mindful breaths and suddenly the extra five miles was no big deal. He was back there all happy; completely unaware I had been mad. I eventually got us turned around, feeling so great that I simply let it all go. All weekend I kept thinking about how proud I was that I was able to do that!”
So five weeks into her company’s MeditationWorks mobile meditation sessions, this account exec knows the changes are real. A brain that assists you to snap one less time at your child, or your spouse, or your mom, or even that annoying stranger is a more mindful brain. Guiding you on a happier, healthier trip up north, or anywhere you want to go.
Happy summer travels from the MeditationWorks team!
Until we meet again…
