Meditation is a proven stress reduction tool. It also boosts productivity, sharpens focus, and creates a happier, healthier work environment. We at MeditationWorks are confident we can help stressed-out workers everywhere relax, prioritize, and all around feel better. We provide the opportunity to practice in our beautifully appointed mobile unit that comes right to your door.
Just a couple times a week in our dedicated space is enough to create positive changes not only within ourselves but our work environments as well. We aren’t surprised when participants experience less road rage, more patience with their kids, while promoting sounder sleep at home and significantly reducing stress levels throughout their day. But more accurate throws to first base? Or the ability to breathe through side aches and leg fatigue to finish a five-mile run?
“You won’t believe this!” a participant from one of our clients said. “I play first base on our company softball team. Our shortstop has always thrown over my head, or too hard, as if he couldn’t help himself. We had our second game since we starting meditating with you guys last night. I actually saw him stop and take a breath before he threw me the ball, which I caught every time. I said, ‘Were you being mindful?’ And he said, ‘Yeah, I was using my breathing.”
Another employee at a company we have partnered with was able to add one more mile to his usual four-mile running route. “I started cramping up, and my legs were killing me. I was about to stop but I remembered the breathing Justin tells us to do. So I just focused on the breath, one at a time, just kept running and the pains just kind of faded away.”
There are several benefits of meditation in play here. Four weeks of the MeditationWorks meditation program have given these clients a mindful foundation already. They all used their conscious breath to relax and focus, thus allowing them to make better thoughtful choices. People who meditate think faster and with more accuracy than those who don’t. Meditation changes the way our brains perceive pain sensations, decreasing their intensity and improving our responses to them. Meditation also weakens the cerebral area responsible for ruminating, worrying and obsessing, giving us some freedom from these terribly unhealthy patterns.
So during the game, Travis snagged every ball that came his way as usual. But instead of impulsively drilling it to first base, the deep breaths he took as the batter lined to his position allowed him to quickly and efficiently assess the situation before sending an accurate throw his fellow teammate could actually catch. Adam didn’t get overwhelmed by his aches and his impulse to just quit. He simply focused on his breath, relaxed into the rhythm of his breath and his body responded big time.
We revel in every mindful experience our meditators report to us. We know that those who participate in our mobile meditation sessions will experience happier, healthier lives at work. However, helping them better enjoy their personal time, well, that’s something truly special to us at MeditationWorks!
We’ll be there, at your company’s door, with a safe, quiet, therapeutic space for you to meditate in. If you tell us when, we’ll also be waiting with Gatorade (to drink or dump on your head) to celebrate all your victories.
If you are enrolled in a MeditationWorks mobile meditation program, please share your mindful stories with us. If you aren’t, have your HR officer give Jake a call at 248-798-3366 and schedule a test drive. We look forward to hearing from you!
Until we meet again…
