SO MEDITATIONWORKS OFFERS MEDITATION SESSIONS FOR STRESSED-OUT PEOPLE IN A MOBILE UNIT? INTERESTING!
Yep! Our program is unlike any other in the world. First, we deliver 10-minute meditation sessions in a rolling relaxation room. It’s a distraction-free dedicated space that comes right to the door of any school, business, or anywhere stressed-out people are. Secondly, our mindfulness meditation sessions are guided by our experienced, creative, and exceptionally eloquent teacher Justin Barnes. Finally, our meditators have the support and encouragement of their co-workers and fellow students. They meditate in groups because humans are social creatures, we are happiest doing things together. These elements create a meditation that is engaging, fun, and most importantly, effective.
WHERE DOES THE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM FIT IN?
We created the educational program to compliment the meditation practice. It’s a way to promote mindful behavior for our participants, because while mindfulness seems like a logical no brainier, we can all benefit from reminders.
The educational program also has three elements. Each week our meditators hear a new “takeaway” message from Justin, a brief but powerful lesson ranging from “be the change you want to see” to “talk less, listen more” and everything between. MeditationWorks also provides “mindful tips”, both verbally and on card meditators take with them to put on their desks or in their cars. Just quick little reminders to keep some mindfulness in your life when away from our mobile unit. For example, my favorite is called “The Calmer Commute” and that helps everyone drive with improved attention, awareness, and relaxation. All meditation sessions are attended by a live guide who reinforces the takeaways and tips, as well as offers encouragement, and answers all questions.
SO HOW DO I ACHIEVE THIS CALMER COMMUTE?
Get in your car and before you do anything, put both hands on the wheel and take three mindful breaths. This not only triggers the human relaxation response, but gives you a familiar calm frame of mind to return to each time you get cut off or otherwise challenged as you drive. Leave your cell phone off and out of reach. Let go of the myth that people must use this time to talk, text, or surf the web. It’s simply not true. Drive with attention and awareness. Catch yourself feeling bored, aggravated, frustrated, or angry, and return to those three mindful breaths. Yelling at other drivers and swerving in and out of lanes seems like automatic behavior, but it’s a choice, and such a useless waste of energy. Driving mindfully, we arrive to our destination in a calmer state and hopefully in one piece!
GEEZE I HOPE I GET BEHIND ONE OF YOUR MEDITATORS IN MY NEXT TRAFFIC JAM
Me, too! If you see us on the road, be assured that all MeditationWorks vehicles have a no-cell policy for drivers and passengers. I speak from experience that it has helped us avoid more than one accident. Even a minor fender-bender sets off a chain-reaction of unnecessary negativity, cost and time-waste. We’re confident we can help people avoid time, joy-suckers, and live healthier, happier lives.
THANKS JOANNE, FOR THE EXPLANATION AND THE MINDFUL TIP! I’LL TRY IT ON THE WAY BACK TO SCHOOL
Thanks, and have a safe and mindful commute!
Until we meet again…
